ACERO
STEEL
OWL.
Acero is Spanish for steel, a reliable, enduring material that has served as the structural backbone of our industrialized world for over a century. Acero is my concept for exhibiting the beauty in the engineered forms steel takes in our bridges, buildings, and machinery. It is Art Deco with a sprinkle of steampunk, a style meant to coexist within our industrialized landscape.
Acero is an organism, evolved from the same steel that built our world, both seen and unseen. Its design is conceived and constructed by harvesting shape and form from structural steel components: the column, the cylinder, the angle, and the dome.
As you consider Acero, bear in mind that you are looking at a maquette. Imagine it fully realized in scale, a giant steel owl perched atop a building or in a park.
